Upcoming Event
Event: Circus Connection
Date: Sunday 25th May
Location: Commonwealth Reserve in Williamstown
You are invited to become a part of an exciting community project involving schools, businesses, and community members called ‘Circus Connection’.
Circus Connection is being created to enrich the educational experiences of students in the Hobsons Bay area, and to create connections between schools and the community.
Circus Connection will involve many businesses and companies in Melbourne and your involvement will enable you to become a part of this community, and contribute to the educational experiences of many students.
Circus Connection will involve fundraising, and an extraordinary circus event in Williamstown, which will be a free public event for anyone who wishes to attend.
The event will be held on Sunday 25th May at the Commonwealth Reserve in Williamstown.
Circus Connection will be an entertaining and fun day for businesses, schools, and community members to come together and celebrate our achievements, and diversity and acceptance.
Circus Connection is a project, which is run by teachers, parents, and students at schools in the Hobsons Bay Area. We are seeking the support from the wider community to meet the aims and goals of the project, for the educational benefit of our school students.
Aims of the project:
- To create a meaningful connection between the school communities and the wider community in the Hobsons Bay area, based on acceptance and diversity
- To ensure that ALL students are able to participate in school excursions, and NO child misses out as a result of financial hardship
- To enable students in the Junior School Council to be empowered to make a difference in their community
- To give teachers the freedom to choose excursions based on educational need as opposed to financial limitations
Goals of the project:
- To raise $20,000 for an excursion fund which will be accessible to the schools involved, for excursions
- To involve 10 schools in Circus Connection from the Hobsons Bay Area
- To form a committee with members of each school community to distribute the funds and co-ordinate the organisation of Circus Connection
- To hold a public circus event in Williamstown to celebrate acceptance and diversity
- The committee will consist of parents, teachers and students and will be responsible for distributing funds when needed by schools
- The committee will meet for brief meetings to co-ordinate the organisation of the event, and update their fellow members with their own schools progress
- A large portion of the organisation will be via phone and email, and committee meetings will be minimal
How are the funds being raised? The funds are being raised by donations and sponsorship from local businesses and companies.
