The New Honda Civic typeR
This aggressive, sharp red rocket has landed at Westpoint Honda
Combining the feel of racing with the comfort of a stylish road car was an interesting challenge.
The result: The new Civic Type R – a car specifically constructed to deliver a race inspired driving experience, but with the comfort you don’t get in a race car. The new Civic Type R is a perfect combination of power, handling and control - making the driver feel as one with the road and the vehicle.
There are only two types of vehicle that are qualified to carry the Red ‘H’ emblem. One is a Type R, the other is a Honda Formula 1 race car. The Red ‘H’ was first applied to a Type R vehicle in 1992 when, with invaluable advice from the late Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna, the NSX-R super car was born and set the foundation for future Type R vehicles.
The Red ‘H’ not only signifies Honda’s racing heritage but also Honda’s race-inspired engineering. And the Civic Type R is no exception. Our engineers continue to apply what they have learned from the race track to a road car, so that it can be driven
by those who share the same passion. Never content to simply rely on ‘add-ons’, such as forced induction, our engineers prefer to develop elegant solutions that enhance performance without compromising the set-up of the vehicle – because to have intuitive control of a car, you need balance.
With one look you can tell that the new Civic Type R means business. A low front, black honeycomb mesh grille, sculptured side skirts, aggressive lines and flared wheel arches housing 18-inch, seven-spoke, alloy wheels tell you that this is a car that loves to be driven. The design of the new Civic Type R is not only aggressive, it’s cutting-edge. A slick rear spoiler mounted over the space-age rear hatch and triangular exhaust tailpipes, usually found on a concept car, demonstrate Honda’s commitment to innovation.
In racing, a split second can decide who gets the trophy and who doesn’t. To be able to make quick decisions, all of the tools and information need to be perfectly positioned around the driver. The new Civic Type R’s multiplex meter is designed to help you absorb information without having to take your eyes off the road. It’s not just the controls and instrumentation that have to feel right. You only have to take a seat in the finely stitched Alcantara bucket seats to get the feeling of being behind the wheel of a finely tuned racing vehicle. All you have to do next is push the start button.
